Finally, FINALLY! A month and more later, I finally (stopped being lazy and) succeeded in putting into cohesive words what happened in Vegas at Bloggers in Sin City (BiSC). Because when you have a weekend like that, it’s hard to not just say you had to be there to understand and leave it at that. Or just link everyone else’s blog posts to summarize the awesomeness.
Basically, everyone at BiSC is incredibly awesome. But more on that later.
When I signed up for BiSC, I was so excited and so scared. (http://youtu.be/bflYjF90t7c) I was excited about really experiencing Vegas for the first time and getting to meet and hang out with some really cool people, BUT I was going to meet some really cool people who I had never met before, so it was a little nerve-racking. Meeting a group of BiSC people who came to Austin to run a half-marathon and hanging out with Austinites Ashley and Linda before helped a lot.
First, the event itself is stellar. Nicole is a lady with superpowers. Her event planning expertise/coordination is phenomenal and all the events were so much fun. From the starting mixer to the private dessert tasting at Serendipity to lounging in our private roped off area at the Flamingo pool to getting hot and heavy at Zumanity to all the food at the buffets to the Mad Men themed party where we danced the night away at Chateau and everything in-between, the weekend was full of a variety of fun events, which made it even more fun to mix and mingle with the people of BiSC.
And about those lovely people…yes, those people are awesome. They are incredibly fun, talented, ambitious, fierce, gutsy, kind-hearted, and down-to-earth. It may have been a little nerve-racking, but I realized that these 59 other people are kind of really like me. They have life stories. They have goals. They have fears and insecurities. And they might even be nervous too, but they opened their hearts and arms to each other and it was kind of pretty awesome to experience. I didn’t have any friend soulmate experiences, but when I said my goodbyes at the farewell brunch, it was sad realizing that every weekend isn’t like this and no, we couldn’t really just stay in Vegas together forever.
My life didn’t change dramatically at BiSC, but it gave me a pretty big knock on the head. Being at BiSC confirmed my thoughts on things I had been thinking about for a while. It confirmed what I thought was lacking in my life and inspired me to dream bigger. That was inevitable since I was constantly around this fearless group of people who were striving to live incredible lives and chasing after their dreams. BiSC sparked my fire for ambition, self-love, new friends, and love all over again.
So thank you, beautiful BiSC-uits, for being incredibly awesome in-person and online and for being you.
P.S. The BiSC gift bag rocked my world. Check out the BiSC blog for all the sweet deets!
