I became obsessed with cupcakes years ago. Obsessed! This was when the cupcake trend was growing and new cupcake shops were popping up left and right. I had cupcake memorabilia, I made cupcakes all the time, and I sought out new cupcake shops. I’m not quite as obsessed now, but it still ranks as one of my top dessert choices.
What seemed to be a “trend” years ago is still a beloved dessert. Austin has plenty of places to enjoy cupcakes, and I’ve listed locally-owned places (in alphabetical order below) to grab a cupcake. Some are specifically cupcake shops and some are bakeries. I’ve included recommended flavors, and you’ll see, my go-to is usually anything with strawberries!
