Here are my captivations lately!
Fall is Here!
I was already over the influx of pumpkin spice everything, but when September 23 (first day of fall) came around, a switch flipped and now I’m all about fall. This is especially surprising because I only have two weekends from now until the end of the year that aren’t booked with something! AH! It’ll be a busy season but I’m excited about the State Fair of Texas, visiting San Francisco again, going to a Dallas Cowboys game, Fun Fun Fun Fest, my birthday party, Thanksgiving, cooler weather and fall flavors! What about fall are you most excited about?
Taylor Swift Sing-Along
I started the month out with a big bang – at Alamo Drafthouse’s Taylor Swift Sing-Along. Two plus hours of Taylor Swift music videos with lyrics and watching her grow up on the screen! There were all kinds of emotions.
Slip ‘N’ Slide Labor Day
You may have seen this short video of our Labor Day Shenanigans on Instagram. Well, I’ve been holding out on you. Boyfriend was filming all the action with his GoPro and we compiled and edited it into this fun video. Sometimes adventure is rolling out painter’s plastic in a friend’s yard, slicking it up with baby soap and just going for it.
Support Confituras
One of my favorite Austin companies is building a community kitchen and shop! Confituras, a company creating delicious jams and preserves is growing and is fundraising for a new space. This new place will serve as a retail shop, incubator for new Austin food companies, and bigger kitchen for more jams! Please consider supporting Confituras on Kickstarter.
Now Listening
I’ve got the new CHVCHES album ‘Every Open Eye’ on repeat!
I Left My Heart in San Francisco
I went to San Francisco! You may have read my San Francisco posts this week. I got to go to the brilliant Re:Make Conference and fall in love with the wonderful city. I’m looking forward to going back very soon!
Helping Refugees
This article lists five things you can do to help refugees trying to reach Europe. If you want to hear more stories, Humans of New York is featuring some that will touch your heart.
Gloria’s Bachelorette Weekend
My friend Gloria’s friends came from all over the state to enjoy an Austin weekend of fun and celebration. We took a Segway tour (the first time for many of us, including me!), got our nails done, explored the HOPE Outdoor Gallery, danced, and ate lots of good food. I also hosted brunch at my place.
Being Present
Our lives have become very “busy.” We fill our time to the brim and mix up our priorities, leaving us wondering why we don’t truly feel fulfilled at the end of it. Give this thoughtful New York Times article a read. Maybe being present with the people in our lives is really what we need.
