Here we go – the last blog post of 2021! Wow, we’re here again! There’s much to be said about this year. I’ll save most of it for my annual recap post next week, but here’s a quick note. I hope you learned something new. I hope you saw the good. I hope you see the difference you’re making in the world.
Clutter Free Gifts
This is my kind of gift guide and something to take into the new year. I lean towards consumables because it’s the easiest.
Profits for Good
Canva, a website I use and love, is dedicated to giving back. Their 1% pledge commits 1% of their equity, 1% of profits, 1% of their team’s time, and 1% of product to helping the world. Two of the founders have also committed the majority of their equity to the Canva Foundation. That’s great to see and I hope more companies do this!
Chinese Pastries
One of my goals next year is to learn more about Chinese food. This new Chinese pastry cookbook is so pretty!
What is Food?
Did you see this viral post by one of my favorite food and travel bloggers? There’s also this follow up post. A lot has been said all over the internet about it, but my takeaways are:
- Do your research and know what you’re getting into. Learn what kind of food and types of meals you like.
- Eat your values. Food is love AND art and there’s a balance necessary.
Year in Search
The annual Google recap makes me choke up!
Grief
Andrew Garfield recently shared a beautiful way to acknowledge grief and loss in an interview about the loss of his mom saying, “This is all of the unexpressed love. The grief that will remain with us until we pass because we never get enough time with each other, no matter whether someone lives until 60 or 15 or 99. I hope this grief stays with me because it’s all of the unexpressed love that I didn’t get to tell her, and I told her every day, she was the best of us.”
Fashion Accountability
Changing our fashion habits can change the world. The first step is learning why. Take a look at Remake’s 2021 accountability report to dive in!
Values
Do you know your values? You probably do and can easily pick them out from a list. Knowing your values makes your choices, like how you spend your time and money, easier. Take a look at this post to learn more.
