I do not have a green thumb at all. I once potted three different kinds of herbs for a little garden and after one little sprout, nothing else happened. It’s a wonder that I still buy succulents since I’ve failed to keep alive three different batches. Right now I have one mini cactus holding on for dear life. But my black thumb ends now!
Brit + Co and Lay’s Wavy helped me host a fun DIY herb garden party where we decorated pots and planted parsley seeds, and I’m determined to grow some lush parsley!
Open Room Austin, a super cute outdoor space, was the setting of our party. This interactive art installation is a long picnic table and lamp posts in downtown Austin. I was overly optimistic about cool Austin weather and we endured a hot, hot setting. (Sorry and thank you, friends!)
Thanks to the Lay’s Wavy Cookbook, I found this savory Caramel Apple Cheddar Chip Blondie recipe that was pretty tasty! [Check out Lay’s Wavy Cookbook for more chip-inspired recipes.] We also had Lay’s Wavy original and Lay’s Wavy Hickory BBQ chips on hand. I’m on a serious sparkling water kick right now, so I had to share my favorite Cherry Lime La Croix.
Similar to the DIY cupcake stand party, we came up with designs for the pot.
I love the end results! My friends are so good at patterns. And I love my friend Abby’s green thumb determination with her words “I will survive!” This is the perfect size pot for a starter herb garden and hopefully the parsley will be growing wild soon for some homegrown garnishes.
This is a super easy DIY project and you can try it for yourself. Brit + Co has kits with everything you need to decorate and plant your seeds. Check out the DIY Parsley Plant Kit.
Thank you, Lay’s Wavy, for this fun DIY project!

One of my goals this year is to throw 12 celebrations. This is #13. These are big and small parties for any occasion with the goal of planning and executing something fun. See all the celebrations here.
Disclosure: Brit + Co and Lay’s Wavy provided me complimentary craft kits and complimentary bags of Hickory BBQ Chips. I was not required to review the kits or the Lay’s Wavy product or write a blog post about the party, but I hope you find inspiration from it! Go try out your green thumb!
