I’m a type-A planner and I don’t really know how “having people over spontaneously” works. But as my party planning experience grows, I’m learning to let go a little (read: chill out) and put more thought into what matters most when it comes to home entertaining. It’s not always about the decor and food though it can enhance the experience. For this DIY Watercolor Party, what mattered most was the opportunity to learn something new and enjoy time with some creative gals!
Jane of A Taste of Koko was our gracious host and it was perfect to gather in her newly renovated space. We all brought some brunch items to share and we had a delicious spread of pastries, coffee, chocolate and strawberries.
In talking with my crafty friends who participated in my DIY parties last year, we wanted to do more DIY projects but also keep them affordable. We used this Brit + Co online class about watercolor illustrations ($19) and put it up on Jane’s TV. I bought all our materials ahead of time (Thanks, Amazon Prime!) and in sharing some of the materials, the total cost for each person was $15. Take a look at the beautiful results:

We all got to try a new craft and create something cute, all while watching our dollars. Sounds like a win-win to me!
What’s your favorite kind of craft that we should try in the future?
I’m on a mission to throw 12 celebrations in 2016. This is #4 of 12. See all of #Celebrations2016 here!
