Best Countries to Visit
Cassie De Pecol is the youngest American (at 27 years old) and first documented woman to have visited all 196 countries in the world! (I calculated it recently – I’ve gone to 15.) Crazy! Of all the countries, she chose her top 10 countries to visit. This is a great place to start your adventures.
Ethical Travel
Remember my post about visiting elephants in Thailand? I talked about why it’s NOT a good idea to ride elephants, even though it’s prevalent and many travelers have it on their bucket lists. Since reading much about the elephants in Thailand, I’ve thought a lot about other bucket list items that might not be ethical for animals. Other items include baiting animals for close encounters, especially whale sharks. This post gives a great explanation about swimming with whale sharks. Most animals are wild and it’s not natural for them to alter their eating habits by being baited or have close encounters with humans for the safety of them and humans. Something to think about as you write your bucket lists and plan your travels!
Best Barbecue in Texas
The annual list of the top 50 best barbecue joints in Texas is out and I might be salivating. We love our barbecue in Texas and for good reason – the experts do it so well! If you’re traveling to Texas, be sure to put at least one of these places on your list!

Why You Shouldn’t Instagram Your Vacation
Say it isn’t so! This article on The Everygirl has some convincing reasons why you shouldn’t Instagram your vacation, including the thought that you’ll get a richer and more authentic experience when you are seeing it through your eyes instead of through a lens. It echoes this revealing post by a popular travel blogger about how Instagram has made her a monster. I think you can have a beautiful experience with the places you travel AND capture it beautifully, as long as it’s not the sole reason or main focus of the trip.
Curious about Sri Lanka?
I don’t know much about Sri Lanka, but my travel blogger friend Yulia once lived there and visited recently. She has many great posts to introduce you to the culture and food! Take a look here.
New Hotel Featuring Banksy
This hotel in Jerusalem, Israel has some very unique rooms designed by artists, including one by Banksy. Very interesting!
Scuba Diving Travel Bloggers
With my growing enthusiasm for scuba diving, I’ve been researching places to dive. It’s been hard to find travel bloggers with in-depth scuba diving experiences. As I’m sure you’ve noticed from my travel posts, I’m a detail-oriented travel planner and when it comes to an activity as serious and possibly dangerous as scuba diving, I need to have all the info! (Ok, maybe a little obsessive.) If you have any tips about locations or recommendations of info/blogger resources, I’d love to hear it!
Austria’s Green Lake
Speaking of diving, this lake in Austria is now closed for divers but it’s still very cool to see videos. Essentially it is a park that is submerged every year because of melting ice.
Museum of Ice Cream
I want to go to this new museum in Los Angeles!
Food Tours
Food tours are one of my favorite tours when I travel. You can try multiple fantastic restaurants in a short period of time, transportation to these places are already set-up and efficient, and you don’t need to wait long to try the food after you have arrived at the restaurant. You also get a knowledgeable guide who can tell you more about the history and traditions of the city. Here’s a list of some of the best food tours in the world. I would love to go to all of them!
Giraffe Manor in Kenya
What would it be like to eat breakfast with giraffes? I’m sure you’ve seen photos of this hotel with free-roaming giraffes. This would be such a fun visit! Take a look at this post about the experience.
