Wanderlust? Me too! My monthly Fearless Wanderlust posts will keep you informed about travel news and give you inspiration for your next trip.
Summer Travel
Hello, Summer! People will be escaping to the beach, Disney World, Europe, and the northern part of the U.S. I’m staying close by for most of the summer but we will be going to Mexico City for a long weekend this week! When we get back, you can find me in all the watering holes to make sure I don’t melt in this Texas heat. (Have you made your Hamilton Pool reservation yet?)
Pods in Iceland
Galaxy Pod Hostel in Reykjavik, Iceland seems like a cute and efficient place to stay. Would you stay in a pod hostel?
Arizona
How cute is this trailer hotel, The Shady Dell, in Bisbee, Arizona? (Bisbee is closest to Tucson and near the Mexican-Arizona border.) Stay in a refurbished bus, airstream, or yacht. I stayed in a similar place in Terlingua, Texas (West Texas by Big Bend National Park).
Eating in Japan
Do you know the dining etiquette in Japan? This article can give you some pointers. Some things you can follow in the U.S. also. Don’t roll your wood chopsticks together to get rid of splinters. Don’t overuse soy sauce. Do slurp your noodles!
U.S. Cities
The U.S. has so many fun destinations, making long weekend getaways a good, quick option. Some of the cities on my list to visit for the first time: Santa Fe and Los Angeles. I’d also like to go back to New Orleans, Portland, and New York City. What cities would you recommend?
Travel Snacks
An article came out about what nutritionists recommend for travel snacks. I usually don’t bring travel snacks and rather opt for full meals at the airport if it’s meal-time, but I’m sure these would be money-saving options. Do you have a favorite travel snack?
Back to Turkey
The tourism industry in Turkey is looking forward to the return of visitors after the terrorist violence and disruptions in the last two years.
Event Travel
This little event called the Royal Wedding happened this month. I was surprised to see (on the TV broadcasts) many had traveled to be a part of the festivities. When I say “be a part of” I mean waiting and standing forever to see the carriage pass by for five seconds. Are there any events you would travel to be a part of? I’ve wondered what going to the Olympics would be like, and I did go to Thailand for the annual lantern festival (kind of unintentionally), but it mostly sounds like an expensive and crowded ordeal. What do you think?
Avoid Travel Mistakes
Mistakes sometimes mean adventure but it’s nice to avoid them if you can! This post gives 26 of the biggest travel mistakes to avoid. My post about hotels also gives some helpful information about making your hotel experience better. One tip I want to add is about hotel cancellations. If you are arriving very late for your hotel reservation – either late night or early morning the night after – because of travel delays, let your hotel know ahead of time so they will save the room for you. If you don’t, they may assume you are a no-show and they can let someone else have your room and/or charge a no-show fee.
Where have you been wanderlusting about lately?
