Wanderlust? Me too! My monthly Fearless Wanderlust posts will keep you informed about travel news and give you inspiration for your next trip.
Hello, travelers! It’s now officially summer on the calendar, but it feels like it has been going strong for about a month now. Have you already gotten some travels in? Since we did Cayman Islands and Miami in April and Mexico City in May, we figured we would stay close to home this summer. We did a weekend in Wimberley (details coming soon) and we’ll be heading to New Braunfels in a few weeks. Other than that, we are enjoying everything Austin has to offer – good friends and good food!
I want to hear all about your adventures! Where have you gone this month or where are you planning to go this summer? What’s the best thing you did there?
Brewery/Distillery Hotels
I’m liking this new trend of combining a brewery or distillery and a hotel. I already seek out breweries when I travel so this makes things simpler. 😀 Would you stay at one of these hotels?
50 States, 50 Natural Wonders
Summer is the perfect time to visit many of the parks in the U.S.! CNN has an interactive feature of 50 Natural Wonders, one in each state, if you need some inspiration.
Mexico
If you’ve been following along, you’ve seen A LOT of posts about my recent trip to Mexico City. Not sorry and you’re welcome. Getting a taste of Mexico that wasn’t a touristy beach location sparked my interest in this incredible country. Have you traveled to other parts?
Remote Airbnb Homes
Do you travel specifically to stay in Airbnb homes? I know I’ve got some bookmarked if our paths ever line up. These remote homes look serene.
Planning Your Trip
I posted about how I plan my trips and I PLAN my trips because I’m a little (maybe a lot) type A. And then I read this article about how you should stop asking for recommendations and planning your trip. Ask for the ONE thing they would recommend. I understand the thinking of allowing more time to be spontaneous. What about you – could you give one recommendation if you were asked?
Skip International Travel Fees
Fees, fees, fees! Are fees the worst or what? Here are some fees you should avoid while you’re traveling, from transaction fees to hotel fees. Some quick tips: never check a bag and make sure to book a hotel with free Wi-fi!
Nicaragua
You may know that Nicaragua is currently in a political crisis. Violence and protests are making it harder to travel around the country because of roadblocks. There is also worry that hospitals are preoccupied and would not be able to serve visitors. The U.S. government has asked travelers to reconsider travel plans to Nicaragua. If you’re curious, here are the current advisories for places you might want to travel.
Travel Credit Cards
Do you have a travel credit card? These are the easiest way to get into travel hacking. Many offer bonus points in the first month of using it. Others offer benefits when you travel and two or three times the point earning on travel and restaurant purchases. One of my favorite traveling couples has a handy rundown of their favorite travel credit cards.
Where to Next?
Now that all the Mexico City posts are up, you’re probably asking, where am I off to next? This fall, I’m going to a new country and my 4th continent! I’ll give you a hint: Asia, Europe, and North America are already checked off. Pyramids, the Nile River, the Red Sea…Egypt, here we come!
