Wanderlust? Me too! My monthly Fearless Wanderlust posts will keep you informed about travel news and give you inspiration for your next trip.
Canceled Plans and Closed Businesses
Since this monthly post is about travel – anyone else’s travel plans canceled? We were concerned about our parents and grandparents, so we canceled our May cruise. If we had waited a few days, it would have been canceled for us. It’s a small thing in the grand scheme of things.
I’m sad about not seeing our family and not going on a trip but more concerned about the health of people around the world. I’m concerned about the tourism industry. Hotels are closing and laying off their teams. Small businesses like tour companies are having to make very hard decisions. When all of this is “over,” our world will look very different in terms of tourism.
Using Travel Insurance
When cancelations first started, people were finding out that company policies and travel insurance were not giving refunds. This made many question how travel insurance works. We’ve always assumed our credit card, which includes travel insurance, would cover us, but it’s something to look into for the future.
Cancelation Fees
If you have canceled a trip, have you gotten a refund? Very generous travel companies (we see you and will support you after all of this is over) are giving full refunds for virus-related cancelations. If you’re not receiving a refund, you should be getting full credit to use for a future booking. This should apply for hotels, airlines, and tour companies. If you call a company and talk to someone, you’re more likely to get a refund.
Travel From Home
Since I won’t be traveling anywhere soon, I’ll be taking advantage of these virtual opportunities. You can travel through your computer. Tour National Parks or walk through museums with virtual tours.
Epic American Literature Road Trips
Wow, look at these books with U.S. road trips mapped. I’ve only read one of these books (Wild by Cheryl Strayed), so this also looks like a great list for adventure travel reads.
Surf Yoga Beer
Bookmark this for later! Have you ever wanted a trip that includes working out? These international group trips by Surf Yoga Beer combine an element of working out (things like biking, yoga, and surfing) with adventure tours. I would love to do one of these!
Bears in the Wild
Want to see bears in the wild? Safely, of course! With diving, visiting an elephant reserve, and Komodo National Park, I’ve had a few animal encounters but from a safe distance! Could you imagine seeing grizzly bears?! Here’s one account of seeing them in Canada!
Support Travel Bloggers
With people not being able to travel, travel bloggers are struggling. They’re unable to travel and website visits have decreased since people are not looking up travel information. If you’re feeling wanderlust, visit your favorite travel blogs! You can also see this post about how to feed your wanderlust!
Have you canceled travel plans recently?
P.S. The photo is from our trip a year ago in Bonaire. We spent an awesome week diving and exploring the island with our friends!
