Wanderlust? Me too! My quarterly Fearless Wanderlust posts will keep you informed about travel news and give you inspiration for your next trip.
Welcome to Summer!
It seems like most people are going on trips this summer to make up for not much traveling last year. People are going to typical summer destinations like Florida, Mexico, and Hawaii. Flight data shows more people are traveling to Hawaii, one of the most exotic locations in the U.S. Have you booked or taken a trip?
Photo Map
Do you keep track of the states you’ve visited? Maybe you see a landmark, drink a local beer, or take a hike in the state when you visit. You can track your states with a fun and conversation-starting map where you can add a photo sticker on every state you cross off.
Let’s Go to Space
The first space hotel is coming in 2027. It’ll host 280 guests and 112 crew. Start saving now; it could cost you $250,000 or more.
Bike Trips
If you love biking, this would be a great vacation option for you. VBT is a worldwide biking tour company. Think of it like a hop-on, hop-off bus tour but you’ll be biking (bikes included) from place to place, exploring a country. You’ll spend six+ days biking up to 20 miles a day. The mileage and cycling levels vary by trip but this could be a fun and different way to see a destination.
Unique Adventures
Speaking of unique guided tours, I also found this company called Uncharted Society. If you’re visiting an outdoorsy location, see if there’s a tour nearby (a couple of hours long to a full day) to hop on an ATV, snowmobile, or jetski. I would love to try some of these!
Dark Sky Parks
I visited a friend’s lake house a few weeks ago and enjoyed a star-filled sky with less light pollution than what I typically see. That’s one of my favorite things about being in nature, you’re able to detach from the world and take in the outdoors. Did you know there are places designated “dark sky” where you can see the best starry skies? Check out this website.
Bucket List Trips
What’s on your bucket list? Maybe one of these trips? Some of these involve some planning and saving but are worth it! Here are my comments on some of these:
- You can visit Teotihuacán when you visit Mexico City. It’s about an hour drive one-way. Learn more in this post.
- People take the long hiking trip to Machu Picchu, but when I visit, I think I’ll take the shorter route. I’m scared of altitude sickness!
- I’ve said it before and will keep saying it – Egypt is a must-visit place! The Great Pyramid is located about a 30-minute drive from Cairo. The history and artifacts in Egypt are astounding. Plan a future trip, especially since the Grand Egyptian Museum will be opening this year.
- I’ve looked into a diving liveaboard for the Galapagos Islands. A seven-night liveaboard is the only way to dive the Galapagos efficiently. It costs about $6,000+ per person! If you’re not a diver, a four-night sight-seeing cruise will cost about $2,000+, and these costs are before navigating a few flights to the islands. It’s definitely a trip to save for.
Underwater Escape Room
Talk about a pivot. What happens when a dive company loses its influx of tourists? Create an underwater escape room and market to local divers.
Best Eco-Friendly Restaurants in the World
I’m bookmarking this list of eco-friendly restaurants for my next adventures! The only restaurant on this list that I’ve heard of is the one on my bucket list – Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York. Do you have any restaurants on your bucket list?
Nature Beauty
Some places in the world just make you stop and stare, especially if it’s not man-made and all nature’s doing. Case in point: Vermillion Cliffs National Monument in Arizona. Check out photos here.
Next Adventure
Where are you going next? This CN Traveler list gives some creative domestic and international options. As I mentioned in the last Fearless Wanderlust post, our next big trip will be to Hawaii! Like many in the U.S., we booked a trip to Hawaii because it is in the U.S. and has incredible diving and outdoor activities. I’m looking forward to diving with manta rays, summiting a volcano, taking hikes, and eating all the food!
P.S. That top photo is of Lake Travis Waterloo Adventures, a fun obstacle course on the lake in Austin.
