Wanderlust? This quarter’s Fearless Wanderlust post has travel news and inspiration to plan your next trip.
Eight years ago, I started these regular posts called Fearless Wanderlust. They were monthly for nearly six years before they became a quarterly feature. I think that change coincided with the industry’s slowdown and my own in 2020. Now 69 Fearless Wanderlust posts later, travel is still an important part of my life, even if big trips only come a few times a year. I hope these posts continue to inspire you to have an adventure!
Epic Trips
I’ve been on some epic trips, somewhere I look back and think, “Wow, that was really cool.” So this list of 10 epic trips has me dreamy-eyed. With all the Yellowstone I’ve been watching, Montana has entered my radar.
Airport Stats
This airport arrival time list will make sure you’re at the airport at the right time. One hour has been my go-to for my local airport but the busiest airports around the U.S. need almost 3 hours!
Cruise Life
Picture this: remote job, apartment, and dining included, and you get to travel the world. This 28-year-old is living on a cruise for a year for $50,000. Spending $4,200 a month is cheaper than living where he was (San Diego) and he gets to see the world.
Antarctica
My ultimate bucket list destination is Antarctica. This place that has long been remote and hard to get to has become more accessible to travelers, even though the journey is still long and costs a lot (almost $10,000 per person). Never heard of how to get there? Check out this article about author Roxanne Gay’s Antarctica trip.
Oldest Hotel in the World
Would you have guessed it was in Japan? This hotel near Mount Fuji has been in the same family for 52 generations! Since 705 A.D.! It looks like a great place to stay.
Oldest Restaurant in the World
The oldest restaurant has been around for 293 years! Restaurante Botin in Madrid, Spain has been open since 1725.
Travel Insurance
Do you get travel insurance when you book trips? For me, it depends on the trip. My credit card has a basic travel insurance and when I go on dive trips, many times dive insurance is required (used DAN). I’ve also been to more unfamiliar places, so sometimes it’s good to have a backup plan (used World Nomads). This travel insurance guide by Daily Drop can give you more tips.
Travel Tips
This article on 21 subjective travel tips is fun. I follow many tips, like taking tours, walking around a city, and sharing tips when you get home (you can find plenty of travel guides on this blog).
Farm Stays in Italy
A popular way to travel in Italy is by staying in bed and breakfast places on farms. Called agriturismo, this is a good way to stay in places outside the big cities and be closer to wineries. Take a look at Adventurous Kate’s agriturismo guide to learn more.
Fishing
The picture at the top is from my last trip – to Freeport on the Texas coast to go fishing. Among the many wonderful trips I’ve gone on, this was a very memorable one!
