Austin restaurants and dishes are featured in my monthly Flavors of the Month posts. Check out this post for recommendations on where to eat next!
Here are a few Austin restaurants I picked up take-out from last month. We have yet to dine out but take-out and parking lot dates have been perfectly fine with me. No matter where you go, be sure to wear your mask!
Pastries from Olamaie
As part of a fundraiser, Austin Food & Wine Alliance partnered with local restaurants for some sweet deliveries. I got my package from Olamaie, which included two sprinkled jumble cookies, kolaches, mini bundt cakes, and fudge.
Homemade Banana Bread
Have you been perfecting your sourdough or banana bread? My friend Peter has a banana bread exchange going with his South Austin neighbors and when I swung by, I was gifted with a loaf! I loved his version because it was super moist and dense.
Tiny Pies
Do you prefer cake or pie? I go for cake but Will’s choice would be pie, cherry to be specific. I picked up a few tiny pies to celebrate the weekend.
Craft Beer from St Elmo Brewing Co
St Elmo Brewing released a new limited beer called D.O.G. It’s sold out now but it was a hazy IPA. It was an IPA and had a dog on it, so I was sold. 🙂
Crispy Chicken Burger from P.Terry’s
Austin’s local fast food restaurant has gotten into the fried chicken sandwich game! Theirs has a thin crispy layer on their regular chicken patty. Pretty good but I think I prefer their chicken burger or their burger.
ShareTea
If you like boba tea or smoothies, you should check out ShareTea up north. Plus, my friend Kathy painted the mural inside their shop, though they are currently only doing curbside pick-up. This peach tea with aiyu jelly was very refreshing.
Homemade Pickles and Biscuits from Confituras
Confituras started out as a local company making jams. Now, it’s got a shop for jam and biscuits and currently sells things like grocery needs. I picked up two kits from them – a pickling kit and a biscuit kit. These were some of the best biscuits I’ve ever made! Plus this blackberry jam. And now, we also have delicious dill pickles for days.
The Cupcake Bar
Having a job related to cupcakes was a dream of mine and I got to do that with The Cupcake Bar. I was a Cupcake Bartender for six years and worked so many weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, and more. I loved that every person that came up to the table had a smile on their face. How could you not when there are cupcakes AND you got to customize yours exactly how you liked it? Since most events have been put on hold, The Cupcake Bar has been coming up with creative ways to bring the deliciousness to you! I got their classic pink cupcake box that includes six cupcakes – vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet – with frostings and sprinkles, ready for you to decorate and enjoy. They’ve got a lot of other fun kits, merch, and iced cupcakes to help you celebrate too.
Lunch from 101 by TeaHaus
Finally tried the new basil fried chicken sandwich from 101 by TeaHaus. If you’ve eaten there, you have probably tried their signature basil fried chicken nuggets. They’ve made it into a chicken sandwich and topped it with slaw. Yum!
What was your favorite thing you ate recently?
