When my friend Sarah and her fiancé Daniel got married in a small family event in San Francisco this past April, all their friends back home in Austin were looking forward to celebrating them when they returned. They graciously threw an Austin reception at the end of October and I was honored to help out.
Sarah and Daniel met through Rogue Running, their running group, so it was absolutely fitting that they threw their event at the newly opened location. It’s not the typical venue you’d imagine, but the space is very cool-looking and it ended up being perfect.
Because it was such a big space, we decided to make it feel more intimate with low hanging garland and tissue paper pom-poms. We also kept the event set-up and activities close together.
We kept the centerpieces simple and used the pink, orange and gold palette throughout the event. The vases were spray painted with gold in different ways.
Here’s a prior-the-event close up of the different vases:
Guests enjoyed barbecue from Stiles Switch BBQ, a fun photo booth and lots of dancing.
A big highlight of the event – the dessert table by soon-to-open Austin bakery Bribery – was the prettiest and my favorite area. (Surprised??) The spread included pineapple brown butter blondies, turtle brownies, plum cobbler with lemon curd and butterscotch, and apple cinnamon cake with whipped cream and pecans.
All in all, it was a fun and successful celebration for two lovebirds!
