I didn’t start going to the dentist regularly as an adult until two years ago! (I know!) Before that, I had only visited in the two years or so when I had braces in middle school, which means I hadn’t been in 10 years! (I KNOW!) Now that I’m in the season of life where I’m proactive about taking better care of myself, oral health is one of my priorities, especially since I love my sweets.
After 10 years of not going to the dentist, thankfully, the only caution my dentist had for me was a few spots of receding gums to keep an eye on. I had a habit of brushing my teeth too hard, which erodes the gum line. From talking with my dentist and my research, I’ve learned this is horrible because gums don’t grow back and it causes problems like teeth sensitivity. If the gums recede too far, the only way to fix it is surgery.
I’ve been trying to make brushing my teeth too hard a habit of the past, and that’s where this toothbrush comes in!
My New Toothbrush
Smile Brilliant reached out for me to try their new cariPRO Ultrasonic electric toothbrush, and I was excited to give it a try!
One recommendation to help prevent receding gums is using an electric toothbrush because it can keep you from brushing too hard. This toothbrush does this and more. One feature I love is the timekeeper that lets you know how long to brush. It gives you 30-second increments, one for each quadrant of your mouth, and pauses between each, so you know when it’s time to switch. Brushing longer doesn’t necessarily mean better or cleaner, so it’s good to keep track of the time.
The second feature I love is the different brush settings. The three brushing modes are standard, white, and sensitive, and I’ve rotated between the three but mostly used the sensitive setting because of my gums. There are also two settings called massage (for stimulation) and gum care (for cleaning) that are for your gums.
Two additional features I want to mention are the battery life and replacement heads. The charge on this toothbrush lasts for about 30 days! The electric toothbrush head is easily popped on and off. For someone who is trying to be more environmentally friendly, I’m all for replacing a smaller piece of plastic every three months. The toothbrush comes with two heads to start. Oh, and the toothbrush is waterproof so there’s no fear of getting it wet!
I’ve tried the toothbrush for a couple of weeks now and it’s been an easy and welcome switch in my routine. It helps me brush lighter while making sure I get a thorough cleaning.
