Since it was the anniversary of my Louisiana trip a few days ago, I thought it would be fun to finally recap this awesome trip. I had never been to NOLA and it was a three-day weekend, so to Louisiana we went! The land of beignets and hand grenades.
New Orleans sure is spicy, and it’s not only from all the cajun food. Whimsical and historic too. But it’s one of those cities where you can marvel at a cathedral and the cute, narrow streets lined with colorful buildings by day and then experience the typical Mardi Gras festivities/craziness – beads, hurricanes, hand grenades, crowded streets and non-stop dancing by night. There’s plenty to do in New Orleans and it’s a unique culture to experience.
First, we left Austin at 4 a.m. to make it in time for NOLA Brewing Co.‘s brewery tour. (Visiting local breweries and drinking local beers has become one of my favorite things when I travel. That and local cupcake shops, of course.)
We also went to this cool bar called The Bulldog that had a big selection of beers from all over. Also, their patio featured this cool fountain of different taps and it was the first time I had an Abita Brewing Company (Louisiana brewery) beer – the Strawberry Harvest Lager
LOOK AT ALL THE DELICIOUS FOOD WE ATE.

When the sun sets, the party really starts.
But it’s definitely fun in the daytime too.
We also spent some time in Baton Rouge. We visited Mike the LSU tiger, though he was hiding the entire time we were there, and the Louisiana State Capitol Building.
I can’t wait to visit again!
