Smoking in public will be banned in the Philippines. Nearly a third of the adult population smokes in the country, so they are trying to improve health by creating laws around it.
Thailand in Mourning
Thailand’s king, the world’s longest-reigning monarch (70 years!), passed away on October 13, and the country is in mourning. Government officials and the Royal Family is in a year-long mourning period, while the country is in a 30-day mourning period. This means activity in the country is very subdued and tourists should be respectful of the traditions and requirements. This article gave a good look at what that means. I’ll be arriving in Thailand as the 30-day mourning period ends, so I’ll be playing it by ear.

On This Day Last Year…
I was drinking wine in Sonoma! That trip to San Francisco, Muir Woods, and Sonoma was packed with adventure, and I can’t wait to visit again. Until then, I’ll look at my Sonoma Travel Guide and San Francisco posts and daydream.
