Wanderlust? Me too! My monthly Fearless Wanderlust posts will keep you informed about travel news and give you inspiration for your next trip.
As you’re reading this post, I’m off on my next BIG adventure – our honeymoon in Indonesia! Planning this trip was a daunting task because there is so much to see. We (ok, mostly I) buckled down three months ago and planned it all, including booking flights, hotels, tours, etc within a month. I hope it’s the unforgettable trip we hope it to be! At the time of this post going live, we’ll be exploring the Singapore airport for a few hours before making our final flight to Indonesia. I’ll try to post on Instagram and Facebook if you want to follow along!
The Visitors
I saw Ragnar Kjartansson’s exhibit of The Visitors when I was in Nashville a few years ago and thought it was so moving. It encouraged me to see another exhibit of his at The Contemporary last summer. Now, The Visitors will be at the Dallas Museum of Art, which has free admission, until March 2020!
New Travel Initiative
Travel is fun and eye-opening, but it can also put a strain on communities. It shifts economies and cultures. It can damage the environment. Prince Harry and a number of organizations have joined together to form Travalyst to find solutions for sustainable tourism. Countries are doing this on their own, but others don’t see the big picture of destruction (or maybe don’t care). Being proactive is necessary for preservation!
Museum of Broken Relationships
Yep, it’s real! There are locations in Los Angeles and Zagreb, Croatia. They feature crowd-sourced exhibits that visitors can relate to.
Largest Outdoor Adventure Park
Love adventure sports like rafting, canyoning, and mountain biking? This adventure park in Austria called Area 47 is calling your name!
Napa Tips
I mentioned in my last Fearless Wanderlust post that my friend is planning a Napa trip next year for his birthday. I’ve seen a few options lately. Some of those options include a scenic Napa Valley Wine Train and a wine tour on a Volkswagen bus. (I have an affinity for VW buses and taking a San Francisco tour in one was a big highlight for me!)
Do I Need a Visa?
When traveling internationally, be sure to look up visa requirements well in advance. A U.S. passport is very strong and visits typically don’t need advance preparation, but here are seven countries where U.S. citizens do need a visa.
London Bakeries
I read this post about London’s best organic bakeries and all of a sudden, I had a ticket to London. Weird how that works! 😉 (Kidding, but I’m definitely bookmarking this for a future trip!)
State Fair of Texas
It’s State Fair season! When I think of the State Fair of Texas, I think of crazy foods, rides, and unique attractions. Growing up in Dallas, we got a Monday holiday known as Fair Day and a free admission ticket. In college and post-college, we would make the trip to watch UT – OU football at the Cotton Bowl and enjoy the fair before and after. Basically, I love the fair. If you want to experience it, it’s open from September 27 through October 20 this year.
Haunted Travel
It’s almost October, which means it’s almost Halloween. Do you like being scared? Have you heard of these top 10 most haunted places in the U.S.? In Austin, the Driskill Hotel has had some ghost sightings and the popular haunted house House of Torment is open until November 9th. Have you ever had a creepy encounter?
