Wanderlust? Me too! My monthly Fearless Wanderlust posts will keep you informed about travel news and give you inspiration for your next trip.
Black Friday – Cyber Monday Travel Deals
I’ve never gone Black Friday shopping but I do like that many deals are available online. This list of travel deals gives me some good ideas. Look for discounts from your favorite hotels, airlines, and travel companies this weekend.
Closing of Uluru
Uluru, an Australian sacred site to aboriginals, closed to climbers last month. For over a century, visitors have been reluctantly welcomed and it resulted in deaths due to the difficulty of the climb and disrespect due to visitors mistreating the landmark.
The Best Food Cities in the U.S.
Love food? Me too! This article and ranking by The Washington Post is a few years old, but I think the 10 cities listed are still very strong contenders as food cities. I’ve visited all of them before, but there are a handful of cities I would love to go back to for proper food research aka more eating. At the top of my list: Los Angeles.
Travel Gifts
Looking for some travel gifts to give during the holidays? You know Adventurous Kate has some recommendations.
Direct Flights From Austin
I’m eyeing this list of direct flights from Austin to plan my travel next year. Have you ever planned travel like this? International destinations include Mexico, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and England. (The international flights keep growing!) Those would be fun, but I’m eyeing some domestic travel too like Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Portland.
Austin Airport Expansion
Austin’s airport is planning to expand big time. The current airport was built to accommodate 11 million travelers annually and by 2040, the space will expand to accommodate 40 million. They’re looking at 32 new gates by 2032. That means more residents, more visitors, and more direct-flight destinations. It has been exciting and frustrating to watch Austin grow and that continues!
Lifetime Adventures
In last month’s Fearless Wanderlust post, I shared a few lists of “adventures to have in a lifetime” and here’s another by Conde Nast Traveler. Though I’ve heard about its decline, the Great Barrier Reef is still a place I want to dive. Seeing the Northern Lights is also on my list! What’s on yours?
Travel Photographers to Follow
Put some new photos in your Instagram feed. Here’s a list of travel photographers to follow. While I don’t always post travel photos (they’re usually food), I hope you’re following me too! Psst, it’s @WanderlustAnita.
House Sitting for Travel
If you travel long-term, a good way to secure accommodation is to house-sit. Websites like TrustedHousesitters help residents find house and pet sitters while providing free accommodation for people staying in one place for a long time.
