Last weekend I went on a GRAND adventure up north. Short but busy, my weekend in Annapolis and Washington D.C. was filled with history, sight-seeing, cupcakes, and seeing a wonderful old friend.
I spent a huge chunk of a day touring D.C. I saw almost everything. Even though most of my time was on a tour bus, it was an exhausting day, especially since it was hot and humid. I would love to go back and tour the insides of some of the buildings, especially the Capitol and National Cathedral. I also got to eat at Pizzeria Uno in Georgetown. I ate at the original location in Chicago earlier this year and have pretty much been craving the deep-dish goodness for months. I’m glad I ran into it!
I saw tons of big name toursity places, but here are a few sights of Washington D.C.:
My hotel and friend were in Annapolis, and it is a very cute little town. I was excited to see Maryland’s State House and check that capitol building off the list! I also walked around the U.S. Naval Academy.
And, of course, I had cupcake stops planned out before I arrived. The original plan was six, but all that sugar and trouble getting to some of them allowed me to go to only three.
Nostalgia Cupcakes: Red velvet and vanilla with vanilla buttercream
Georgetown Cupcake: Mint cookies & cream
Red Velvet Cupcakery: Cherry Lemon (My favorite of the trip!)
It was a fun and exhausting trip. I think it’ll satisfy my wanderlust cravings for a bit! 🙂
